1.decomposition(n.)分解/腐爛

 definition : the process of decay that takes place when a living thing changes chemically after dying.
Eg : The goal of retting is to bring about decomposition of the pectin.
 
2.notorious(adj.)惡名昭彰的;聲名狼藉的(+for)
[noˋtorɪəs] 
definition : famous for something immoral or bad
Eg : The company was notorious for shady deals.
3.evaluate(vt.)估...的價/評估/為...鑑定
[ɪˋvæljʊ͵et] 
definition : to judge or calculate the quality, importance, amount, or value of something
Eg : They will first send in trained nurses to evaluate the needs of the individual situation.
4.amicable(adj.)友好的;友善的;溫和的

definition :  friendly in attitude, or (of decisions or agreements) achieved with friendly attitudes and without unpleasant argument
Eg : The two nations settled their quarrel in an amicable way.
 
5.paraphrase(v.)將...釋義;改述
                    (n.)意譯;改述

definition :  to state something written or spoken in different words, esp. in a shorter and simpler form to make the meaning clearer
Eg : You may read the prose paraphrase of this poem.
 
6.incineration(n.)焚化;燒成灰

definition : the act of burning something completely; reducing it to ashes
Eg :  He introduced a system of sanitation, extending from fly control to incineration.
7.compensate(v.)補償;賠償(+for)

definition : to pay someone money in exchange for work done, for something lost or damaged, or for some inconvenience
Eg : The official promise to compensate people for the price rise clearly hadn't been worked out properly.

definition : the general opinion that people have about someone or something
Eg : Barcelona's reputation as a design-conscious, artistic city.

Eg :  Most delinquent children have deprived backgrounds.

definition : lasting for a long time or forever
Eg : Heavy drinking can cause permanent damage to the brain.
 
11.apparatus(n.)器械;儀器;設備 / (人體)器官 / 機構;機關

definition : a set of equipment, tools, or a machine that is used for a particular purpose
Eg : For many years, the country had been buried under the apparatus of the regime.
 
12.dissemination(n.)散播;宣傳

 definition : the opening of a subject to widespread discussion and debate
Eg : He was fully bent upon the dissemination of Chinese culture all over the world.
13.incredulous(adj.)不輕言相信的;懷疑的(+of/about) / 表示不相信的;表示懷疑的

definition : not wanting or not able to believe, and usually showing this
Eg :  I am wholly incredulous of the truth of his story.

definition : a natural object moving around a larger object in space, or an artificial object sent up into space to travel around the earth

 definition : a class of people of high social rank
Eg :  It was not the aristocrat but the yeoman who determined the nation's policies.

 definition : existing or happening now
Eg : He claims that the laws are antiquated and have no contemporary relevance.

definition :  to produce goods in large numbers, esp. in a factory using machines

definition : the formal system of rules for correct behavior on official occasions

definition :  having or appealing to those having worldly knowledge and refinement and savoir fair
Eg :  Mr. Smith is a sophisticated world traveler.

definition : someone in a high position, esp. in business, who makes decisions and acts according to them
Eg : A successful job search needs to be as well organised as any other executive task.

definition : to put something or someone into a lower or less important rank or position
Eg : We shall relegate this problem to the organizing committee.

 definition : more important or powerful than all others
Eg :  A preeminent actor can bring a fictional character to life.
 
25.formidable(adj.)可怕的;令人畏懼的/難以克服的;難對付的/巨大的;傑出的

definition :  strong and powerful, and therefore difficult to deal with if opposed to you
Eg : He met with a woman with a formidable appearance.

1.distinctive (adj.)有特色的;特殊的

definition : marking something as clearly different from others 
Eg : Each room is distinctively decorated with light, bright colors and floral prints.    
 
2.torrent (n.){+of} (水,熔岩等的)奔流,洪流/(雨)傾注/(話語)連發;(感情)迸發

definition : a large stream of water that moves very fast
Eg : he rain came down in torrents, and we could see nothing.
 
3.capacity(n.)容量;容積/能量;生產力/資格;地位

definition :  the amount that can be held or produced by something
Eg : The capacity of a container is its volume, or the amount of liquid it can hold, measured in units such as litres or gallons.

Eg : He is suspected as an accomplice of the murder.

Eg : My sister's taste in dresses is adverse to my own.
